January has always been a special month for luxury marketers.

Its name comes from the Roman god Janus with his two faces gazing into the past and future. Our cue to reflect and dream big. For luxury brands, this means revisiting the roots while also eyeing the horizon for what's next.

Take LVMH, which recently dropped a series of videos on how to pronounce its brands. It goes back to the basics of the brand in a quirky and amusing way.

It reminds me of a joke I make during some of the talks I give to beauty brands. The audience would always notice my heavy French accent in English and I would make fun of it by telling them that at least I knew how to pronounce "La Mer", "Le Labo" and "L'Oréal" the right way.

It's a nod to the essence of luxury brands – culture and heritage. As elegantly showcased by Boucheron's "histoire de style" video, linking jewelry and fashion in a mesmerizing dance.

Yet, January is also about peering into the crystal ball 🔮.

Everybody's trying to forecast the next trend.The buzz is all about AI, but let's not overlook others areas of disruption - such the burgeoning realm of connected objects.

With Louis Vuitton and Fendi unveiling high-end speakers, it seems luxury in 2024 is set to make a statement that's both loud and bold.

A sign that luxury will be loud and bold in 2024? Let's dive right into it...
