When you hear the term ‘podcast’, you probably picture two guys in T-shirts sitting in a garage, mumbling about video games. Think again. Luxury brands like Chanel, Gucci and Dior are using audio storytelling to their advantage. In this article, I talk about how podcasts are becoming a key part of luxury brands marketing strategies.
When it comes to influencing and impressing consumers in the 21st century, there is a lot more that luxury marketers can do than just investing in traditional advertising. Podcasts are a great example of how companies can use storytelling and emerging technology to improve their digital presence.

Podcasts are nothing new. The term "Podcast" was coined by a Guardian journalist in 2004. It is a combination of "iPod" and "broadcast", as iPods music players were the main place where people listened to podcasts back then. Nowadays, podcasts are broadcasted on all sorts of devices, from phones and earpods to Google home and Alexa assistants. They are ubiquitous.
